Circulating Neurofilament Light Chain Levels Increase with Age and Are Associated with Worse Physical Function and Body Composition in Men but Not in Women

چکیده
This study aimed to assess the relationship between age-related changes in Neurofilament Light Chain (NFL), a marker of neuronal function, and various factors including muscle body composition, metabolomic markers. The included 40 participants, aged 20 85 years. NFL levels were measured, markers assessed. increased significantly with age, particularly men. Negative correlations found measures such as grip strength, walking speed, chair test performance, indicating decline performance increasing NFL. These associations more pronounced also negatively correlated quality men, measured by 50 kHz phase angle. In terms was positively fat mass mass, predominantly Metabolomic analysis revealed significant specific metabolites, gender-dependent relationships observed. provides insights into circulating serum NFL, aging. Our findings hint at potential early age-associated neurodegenerative processes, especially

Circulating Nitrite and Nitrate are Associated with Job-Related Fatigue in Women, but not in Men
A recent study indicated that serum nitrite and nitrate (NOx) is inversely associated with general fatigue. The purpose of this study was to confirm the negative association between nitric oxide (NO) and fatigue and to examine whether NO can prevent fatigue caused by job strain. The subjects, 570 workers (272 men and 298 women), answered self-administered questionnaires and underwent a medical ...
متن کاملThe Association of Food Intake and Physical Activity with Body Composition, Muscle Strength and Muscle Function in Postmenopausal Women
Background and Objectives: Sarcopenia is explained as age-related reduction in muscle mass and performance. Some of the most important risk factors for sarcopenia include age, malnutrition, and sedentary life style. The aim of this study was to investigate the association of food intake and physical activity with body composition, muscle strength and muscle function in post-menopausal women. ...
متن کاملSerum levels of IL-17A increase in Asthma but not in accordance with Serum level of IgE and Asthma Severity
Background and Aims: Recent evidence suggests that T helper (Th) 17 cells are involved in the emergence of asthma. Th17 cells have a key role in inducing inflammation in asthmatic airways thus Interleukin (IL)-17A, the main cytokine of Th17, contributes to airways inflammation. Materials and Methods: We evaluated the level of IL-17A and total immunoglobulin E (IgE) in sera of 100 asthmatic p...
متن کاملBody composition and physical function in women with multiple sclerosis.
Persons with multiple sclerosis (MS) have reduced physical activity (PA) and lower-limb physical function and potentially disordered body composition compared with their peers without MS. The aim of this study was to determine whether PA and body composition were differentially associated with lower-limb physical function in persons with MS compared with controls. Females with MS and age- and b...
